What Are Clinical Trials?

Clinical trials are research studies in which new treatments (drugs, diagnostic procedures, and other therapies) are tested in patients to determine if they are safe and effective.

How will your rights be protected?

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for protecting the rights of human subjects recruited to research studies conducted at City of Hope. IRB approval is required for all human subjects research, including clinical trials. The IRB assures that such research conforms with current ethical standards and all regulatory mandates.
